ANTIQUE ADVERTISING SIGN
Neat antique lithograph tin advertising sign measuring measuring 12-3/4" by 7-3/4" in size. Featuring an elegant doctor in top hat, tails and spats, he rushes along holding an M.D. bag and umbrella - muted tones indicate dusk - a home with lighted windows sits at the path end. Casting a stork shadow on the walkway, he hurries to attend a birth - love the monocle he sports! Made of sturdy tin rolled over a cardboard backing to create a frame, sign is marked COPYRIGHT 1915 ANHEUSER-BUSCH, ST. LOUIS. Back bears a short description of the image as well as suggested titles such as "Coming Events Cast Their Shadows Before".  These signs were issued in a series around the early 1900s, and marketed to the medical profession. It was distributed by MALT NUTRINE DEPARTMENT, ANHEUSER-BUSCH, ST. LOUIS, MO.
This sign hung in a medical office in Fostoria, Ohio for years. Doctor was a general practitioner in the area. Condition, as shown, is good with scuffing, scraping, denting, paint spotting on the back and loss of the little string hanger that would have threaded through the slot on the top back. I think it is a charming antique sign - perfect for any breweriana or medical collection or display!
