CRANBERRY EXTRACT
Cranberry is a small, evergreen shrub grown throughout North America. Cranberry has a long history of use among native American Indian tribes, primarily for helping with urinary conditions. Juice and extracts from the fruit (berry) are used as medicine. The many and varied health benefits of cranberry juice range from relief of urinary tract complications and respiratory problems. Cranberries are also incredibly versatile in cooking and there are lots of ways you can include them in your diet. Cranberry extract is also a good source of dietary fiber, contributing 9.2 grams - providing relief from constipation, as well as blood sugar regulation. As part of a varied diet, cranberry extract can help boost your vitamin K and vitamins E levels, as well as provide essential minerals essential to bodily functions.
The cranberry was primarily used as a traditional medicine for helping with bladder and kidney helpers among Native Americans. The berries were also used as a fabric and food dye, and as a poultice to help wounds. Sailors used the berries as a scurvy preventative. Despite a general lack of scientific evidence to indicate that cranberries or their juice are effective urinary acidifiers, interest persists among the public in the medicinal use of cranberries. Cranberries are used in eastern European cultures to reduce fever and, because of their folkloric role. People used to think that cranberry worked for urinary tract complications by making the urine acidic and, therefore, unlikely to support the growth of bacteria. But researchers don’t believe this explanation any more. They now think that some of the chemicals in cranberries keep bacteria from sticking to the cells that line the urinary tract where they can multiply.
ASTRAGALUS EXTRACT
Astragalus has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. Its main use has been to boost the body's immune system. But it also has been used to help with other conditions, including
heart complications. That raises the question of exactly what heart benefits astragalus might offer. Astragalus is also called huang qi or milk vetch. It comes from a type of bean or legume. While there are multiple species of astragalus, most astragalus supplements contain Astragalus membranaceus. The herb is said to offer multiple health benefits for multiple conditions, including heart benefits. Astragalus appears to work by stimulating the immune system. It has antioxidant effects that inhibit free radical production. In the body, free radicals damage cells and are linked to many health problems associated with aging. There is, though, no known way to stop free radicals completely. Astragalus is a natural dietary supplement that's used for various health conditions. For instance, it's used to help with the common cold, upper respiratory complications, fibromyalgia, and diabetes. Some proponents of astragalus use it for its heart benefits. They claim it may protect against heart problems. It's also used to help improve overall weakness.Proponents also say astragalus stimulates the spleen, liver, lungs, circulatory, and urinary system.
BIRCH LEAVES
Birch is a natural pain reliever containing salicylate, the compound found in aspirin. Salicylate relieves the inflammation and pain associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout,
and generalized muscle pain. Salicylate deters the body's production of certain prostaglandins that are linked to inflammation, pain, and fever among other things. An other reason birch calms
arthritis and gout is it's cleansing diuretic action that eliminates excess water. Sweet birch can have good results against cellulite.
SUPPORTS ANTIBACTERIAL PROTECTION
The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory actions of birch bark support it's traditional uses in skin problems. Traditional doctors have long considered the leaves of the white and silver birch effective for skin rashes and hair loss. The essential oil of birch is astringent and is mainly employed for its curative effects in skin affections, especially eczema. The American species Betula lenta, (Sweet Birch, Cherry Birch) oil is almost identical with Wintergreen oil, but is not as bad. Still, the methyl salicylate it contains can have harmful effects if used unwisely, and it is not for general use in aromatherapy and never to be taken internally. Birch bark and leaf in whole herb form have a much lower bad chemical composition. To increase the effect (and reduce burning) add a pinch of sodium
bicarbonate (baking soda) to the infusion. The birch is a soft-wood tree native to cold, northerly climates.
BUCHU LEAVES BENEFITS
Buchu is harvested from the dried leaves obtained from three species of Barosma. The species derive their common names from the shape of the aromatic leaf. Native to South Africa, the buchus grow as shrubs with leathery leaves that have oil-glandular dots on the underside. Odor and taste of the plants is described as spicy, resembling black currant, but also reminiscent of a mixture between rosemary and peppermint. Buchu oil sometimes is added as a component of black currant flavorings. Most commonly, B. betulina is used in commerce. The drug had been included in the US National Formulary and was described as a diuretic and antiseptic. Its use since has been abandoned in favor of more effective diuretics and antibacterials. Buchu remains a popular ingredient in over-the-counter herbal diuretic preparations. Historically, buchu has been used to help with inflammation, and kidney and urinary tract complications; as a diuretic and as a stomach tonic.
